The Metamorphic Rock Bag is an economy collection of 6 commonly known metamorphic rocks. Metamorphic rocks are formed by pressure and heat that may or may not be influenced by the introduction of chemically active solutions. Each generous specimen is 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" and is contained in a zip lock bag with a label.

METAMORPHIC ROCKS
PHYLLITE – REFLECTIVE SHEEN, USUALLY GREY BLACK OR GREENISH
GNEISS – BANDED APPEARANCE AND TEXTURE, USUALLY LIGHT IN COLOUR (CAN BE DARK), HAS RIBBONS OF DIFFERENT COLOURED MINERALS.
QUARTZITE – WHITE TO PALE GREY COLOUR, GRAINY SURFACE WITH SANDPAPER TEXURE
GREEN SCHIST – DARK OR LIGHT GREEN, EVEN TEXTURE, PLATY WEEKNESS DUE TO ALIGNMENT OF PLATY MINERALS ****some kits contain MARBLE instead of GREEN SCHIST
SLATE – DARK DULL LUSTRE, FINE GRAINED TEXTURE, SMOOTH
HORNFELS – (FINE) GRANULAR TEXUTRE, HARD, CONTAINS SMALL CRYSTALS
