Compound Bar. The IEC compound bars are bonded materials of different expansions so that, when heated, the bar curves to demonstration the different expansions of the 2 metals. The 2 metals are of different colours (copper colour and silver colour) so that it is obvious that there are 2 different metals.
Old style compound bars are riveted, but the more modern ones are bonded permanently without the use of rivets. Some IEC models are different lengths and some have a handle.
