Core Activities with Density Balls:
Sink or Float Test: Drop each ball into a beaker of water to see which materials float and which sink straight to the bottom.
Mass vs. Volume Comparison: Note that all balls have nearly the same size (volume), but weigh different amounts on a balance scale.
Calculate Density: Measure the mass of each ball using a scale and find the volume (via water displacement in a graduated cylinder), then compute \(\text{Density} = \frac{\text{Mass}}{\text{Volume}}\).
Changing Liquid Density: Test if sinking balls (like acrylic or wood) float when you add heavy salt or sugar into the water to increase the liquid's density.
Specific Gravity Ranking: Line up the balls in order from lowest density to highest density based on how fast they sink or how high they float.
